The Rundown: The baby deficit and ending co-ed student bathrooms

The Department of Development recently reported that Ohio is in the beginning of a long-term population decline, with an estimated loss of 675,000 people by 2050–a nearly 6 percent decline. While the population replacement rate requires a minimum fertility rate of 2.1 children per woman, Ohio's total fertility rate is only 1.7 children per woman. A declining population comes with a host of consequences, including reduced tax income to maintain government services and city upkeep, decreased GDP, and a smaller workforce. The issue, however, isn't limited to Ohio or even the US: one Japanese company is switching from manufacturing baby diapers to adult diapers, while China is now paying couples to have children.

Why you need to vote today

Because of our Christian identity, part of our earthly responsibility is to engage with God’s institution of government to incentivize good and diminish evil. We must seek the welfare of the city where we have been sent into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare we will find our welfare (Jeremiah 29:7).

The Rundown: 6 days left – have you voted?

Based on the widely differing policies of the two major parties, it is safe to say that the political trajectory of our state and nation depends on Tuesday's election and the mercy of God. According to new research from George Barna, an estimated 41 million Christians may not vote in this presidential election. The data also shows, however, that millions of them would vote if their pastors, friends, or family encouraged them to vote. With the 2020 presidential election ultimately decided by about 587,000 votes across nine battleground states, the Christian vote–if activated–would determine the election. Check out Center for Christian Virtue's nonpartisan election resource, BuckeyeBallot.com/WhyVote.
