Election 2024: Historic Victories for Ohio and America
COLUMBUS–The 2024 election season will be remembered as a turning point for Ohio and the nation. Across the board, pro-life and pro-family candidates and causes triumphed.
Center for Christian Virtue covered the state with their nonpartisan election resources and No on Issue 1 materials to ensure the Christian voice was not silenced. And the Church rose up with a strong voice in 2024!
Center for Christian Virtue (CCV) will release an episode of their news and culture podcast The Narrative later today. In the meantime, here are some key takeaways from CCV President Aaron Baer based on the early returns:
On President Donald Trump’s Victory
“The clear message last night was Americans are hurting and want a new course for the country. Cutting through the media spin, President Trump ran on a strong platform of addressing the core issues that are hurting our families: increased prices, an open border, and woke ideology that’s harming kids.
“Getting our nation back on track isn’t just about reversing course from the last four years. We must make a renewed push to build up the family. Our nation is only as strong as our families, and, if we hope to pass on the American promise to the next generation, it starts by ensuring children know the security of the blessing of being in a home with their married mom and dad.
“We must pray for President Trump and his transition team as they prepare for the work ahead.”
On Ohio’s Own Vice President-Elect JD Vance
“Senator and Vice President-Elect JD Vance represents a new brand of conservative leader. He’s modeling to Christians how to engage with those who disagree with you and find common cause, but not compromise the truth. The nation is getting to see what we know in Ohio – that JD Vance understands what American families are facing, and has actual solutions for the country. Ohio is now the birthplace of presidents AND vice presidents!”
Senator Election Bernie Moreno & the Flip of the US Senate
“I’ve never seen a candidate work harder than Bernie Moreno. He put in the time to connect with Ohio voters to understand their concerns, and when the media attacked him for his pro-life views, he never wavered. Senator Sherrod Brown got consumed by the Washington, DC, culture and lost connection with Ohio voters. Ohio now has a US Senator that truly understands what our families are facing.”
Ohio Supreme Court
“The state of Ohio now has a 6-1 majority of originalists on the Ohio Supreme Court. This is crucial to stop the left’s law-fare strategy that is seeking to repeal Ohio laws that provide school choice, prevent boys from playing in girls’ sports, stop trans medicine on kids, repeal pro-life laws, and repeal common-sense regulations on abortion clinics.”
The Defeat of Issue 1
“David defeated Goliath as Issue 1 and the nearly $40,000,000 from out-of-state fell. Senate President Matt Huffman and Senate Majority Leader Rob McColley championed this effort to defeat Issue 1, as did campaign chairman Bob Paduchik. Their strategic leadership was crucial in exposing the lies behind Issue 1. Secretary of State Frank LaRose also ensured Ohioans had honest ballot language so they could understand what this dangerous amendment would do.
“Ultimately, the defeat of Issue 1 sends a clear message to the Yes on Issue 1 campaign funders that the Ohio Constitution isn’t for sale.”
Life Wins in Nebraska and Florida
“For the first time, abortion ballot initiatives failed in Nebraska and Florida. Our friends at the Nebraska Family Alliance led a strategic campaign to expose the deadly abortion amendment, and Governor Ron DeSantis was a strong advocate to overcome the more than $100,000,000 the abortion industry spent on their abortion amendment.
“It’s important to note that the Florida abortion amendment got the same 57 percent of the vote as Ohio’s amendment. But Florida has protected their Constitution with a 60 percent threshold to ensure radical ideas like this cannot prevail.”
The Ohio General Assembly
“Once again, Ohioans will have a pro-life, pro-family General Assembly. Early returns look like a 65-34 Republican supermajority in the State House of Representatives and a 24-9 Republican supermajority in the Senate. The time is now to go on offense in Ohio. As our population continues to decline, we must look at innovative ways to restore the family and build up our struggling communities.
“CCV will be releasing our strategic plans to provide hope and a future for all Ohioans.”
