The Ohio Senate Higher Education Committee has just passed the Advance Ohio Higher Education Act (SB1).

Sponsored by Senator Jerry Cirino (R-Kirtland), the Advance Ohio Higher Education Act would ban DEI courses, training, and required statements; spending on DEI initiatives or programs with the same intent; and political and ideological litmus tests in all hiring, promotion, and admissions decisions at Ohio's state colleges and universities.

Senate Bill 1 (SB1), sponsored by Senator Jerry Cirino (R-Kirtland), may receive a vote in the Ohio Senate Higher Education Committee today–Wednesday, February 13–at 9:00 am. 

Senate Bill 1 (SB1), sponsored by Senator Jerry Cirino (R-Kirtland), is scheduled to receive its third hearing before the Ohio Senate Higher Education Committee on Tuesday, February 11, at 2:00 pm. 

Known as the Advance Ohio Higher Education Act, SB1 would ban DEI courses, training, and required statements; spending on DEI initiatives or programs with the same intent; and political and ideological litmus tests in all hiring, promotion, and admissions decisions at Ohio's state colleges and universities.

The Ohio Senate passed House Bill 8 (HB8)! HB8, the Parents' Bill of Rights, protects parents' fundamental right to make decisions regarding their child’s upbringing, care, and education. HB8 also protects students' right to receive religious education during the school day through religious release time programs like LifeWise Academy.

House Bill 8 (HB8), sponsored by Representatives D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) and Sara P. Carruthers (R-Hamilton), was voted out of the Ohio Senate Education Committee. 

HB8 contains the Parents' Bill of Rights and a measure to protect students' right to receive religious education during the school day through religious released time.

HB8 must now receive a floor vote in the Senate and then a concurrence vote in the House of Representatives to be sent to Governor DeWine for final approval.
