It’s time to get serious

An Urgent Message from CCV Policy Director David Mahan

Did you see the story on the front page of The Christian Post yesterday?

CCV President Aaron Baer was featured in an article on yet another story of pornographic material being given to children in public schools.

Christians must change strategy to keep graphic sex out of school - The Christian Post Headline.png

A local Columbus public school, Hilliard Bradley High School, and other Central Ohio area schools, have assigned a poetry book titled “The Poet X,”  in which the main character rejects her Christian faith, and celebrates masturbation, sex with other minors, and drug use. It even includes the desecration of a Catholic consecrated host.

I’ve spent more than 20 years working in public schools trying to help students avoid these risky behaviors. Unfortunately, what we’re seeing in Hilliard public today is not an exception–it is standard operating procedure in suburban, rural, and urban schools.

As Aaron said, it’s time to get serious about addressing this problem.

The old strategies have failed us. That’s why Center for Christian Virtue is working on bold and innovative new strategies to fundamentally change how we educate in Ohio.

This means reforming how we fund schools:

  1. We need "backpack funding” so money follows the student, no matter what school they choose.

  2. We need churches to consider planting schools in their empty classrooms so children have a real opportunity to access a God-honoring education.

We can’t do this alone—we need your help! Your donation of $20, $40, $100 or more will help fuel this innovative new strategy.

Grateful to stand with and for your family.

Our Victory is in Christ,

David Mahan
