Statement on EdChoice Amendments
Proposed EdChoice Deal Puts Politics Above Parents and Students
Statement from Citizens for Community Values President Aaron Baer
COLUMBUS – Proposed amendments to the state's school voucher program would kick thousands of eligible families off the EdChoice voucher list. The proposal would freeze the “failing schools” list to last year’s list, and expand the income voucher from 200% of the Federal Poverty Level to 300%. The following statement is from CCV President Aaron Baer:
“The General Assembly made a promise to parents last year, and Ohio lawmakers need to keep it.
“The families who would be kicked off the list don’t have multimillion-dollar, taxpayer-funded budgets. They were counting on the EdChoice voucher to be able to afford a better education for their children. We urge lawmakers and the governor to protect the families who were promised the voucher for the 2020-21 school year.”
As Ohio’s Family Policy Council, Citizens for Community Values seeks the good of our neighbors throughout Ohio by advocating for public policy that reflects the truth of the Gospel.
