Who will stand?

A Letter from Center for Christian Virtue Policy Director David Mahan

Hey CCV Family,

I can’t tell you how many times we've  heard–especially from believers who woke up one morning to find themselves in the middle of a culture war over the lives of their children–some iteration of the questions in Psalm 94:16:

Who rises up for me against the wicked? Who stands up for me against evildoers?

For many of those parents, their situations seemed hopeless. Not only was a dangerous political gender agenda being pushed on their kids by trusted institutions like their schools or children’s hospitals, but no one believed the parents when they told their stories.

However, over the last two years, we worked with Rep. Gary Click to rally overwhelming support for standing against hospitals, rogue school districts, woke politicians, and the mainstream media that supported both the chemical sterilization and physical mutilation of children, as well as allowing males in girls’ sports and private spaces.

After years of lining up key witnesses—from victims of the culture war like Chloe Cole, who “detransitioned” after having her breasts removed at 16, and former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines to medical and legal experts—House Bill 68, which included both pieces of legislation, was voted out of the House and Senate with supermajorities and sent to Governor DeWine for his signature.

The Governor spent 10 days meeting with advocates on both sides of the issue, as well as visiting several Children’s Hospitals, the main purveyor of pediatric sex-change procedures. At the end of the 10 days, Governor DeWine decided to veto the bill.

But by the grace of God, the legislature voted to override his veto!

Only God could cause that much of a culture shift at the Statehouse and inspire the thousands of believers necessary to encourage their legislators to take such a bold and righteous stand on behalf of Ohio children and families.

While the law is in effect and gender clinics across Ohio are closed, a lawsuit against HB68 is currently making its way through the state courts, and we covet your prayers of supplication for a favorable outcome that upholds it as law, though the frivolous claims have so far been righteously denied.

You can make a difference on this Giving Tuesday by donating online to support our mission to continue to enact–and defend–laws like HB68 to protect families, faith, and freedom.

But, family, let’s not forget to praise God with THANKSGIVING for the great things He’s already done!
