We launched a SECOND school!

COLUMBUS–Today marked the first day of class for 17 students at the brand-new Crown Preparatory Academy on the east side of Columbus. Following the launch of Westside Christian School last year, Crown Preparatory is the second Christian school which has opened through a partnership between Center for Christian Virtue (CCV) and the Ohio Christian Education Network (OCEN) and a church that felt called to serve the children in their community. Crown Preparatory is a ministry of Columbus Christian Center, which is hosting the school on its campus.

“The pastoral leadership and congregation of Columbus Christian Center are to be commended for their bold act of faith to address the educational crisis that children across Ohio are facing,” said Troy McIntosh, Executive Director of the Ohio Christian Education Network, a ministry of CCV. “Two-thirds of Ohio’s 8th graders are not reading proficiently. Many pastors and churches are realizing that a significant effect of this is that these young people cannot adequately read and understand the Bible. Christians have historically understood the important link between literacy and the ability to understand God’s Word.”

All of the students at Crown Preparatory and Westside Christian are able to attend at little to no cost through the use of Ohio’s EdChoice Scholarship Program and through scholarships awarded by the OCEN Scholarship Granting Organization. Each of them will receive an excellent education with fundamental principles of learning grounded in Scripture and a Christian worldview.

CCV and OCEN’s mission is to make this type of high-quality Christian education financially and geographically accessible to every student in Ohio. Churches that are considering starting a school are encouraged to contact OCEN for details on how OCEN can partner with them to accomplish a successful launch.

“There may be no greater return on investment that a church can make than to invest in the lives of the children in their church and community. What other type of ministry allows you to shape lives for seven hours a day, five days a week?” said McIntosh. “These 17 new Crown Preparatory students will be loved, taught, and discipled by qualified teachers who care for their hearts, souls, and minds. We look forward to many more students in the future.”
