CCV Expands Policy Outreach by Hiring Nilani Jawahar

COLUMBUS—Center for Christian Virtue, Ohio’s largest Christian public policy organization formerly known as Citizens for Community Values, announced today that Nilani Jawahar has joined the team as their Legislative Liaison. As the Legislative Liaison at Center for Christian Virtue (CCV), she works alongside their Policy Director David Mahan to establish relationships with lawmakers and to help shape public policy.

“As the threats to life, family, and liberty grow in our nation, Center for Christian Virtue is rising to the occasion by building out a team of leaders to advocate for our fundamental freedoms,” said Aaron Baer, president of CCV. “Through her tenure at the Statehouse, Nilani gained a reputation as a respected leader amongst her peers and lawmakers.”

“Under the direction of CCV Policy Director David Mahan, and with our growing Ohio Christian Education Network team, CCV now has the largest Christian public policy team in the state, and will work to advance a pro-life, pro-family, pro-freedom agenda."

Born and raised in Ohio, Nilani and her family moved to India in 2008 to spread the message of the Gospel. She later obtained her B.A. in English, with minors in Journalism and Psychology, at Christ University in Bangalore, India.

Upon moving back to the United States in 2016, Nilani became fascinated with America’s unique history and form of government, leading her to pursue an M.A. in American History and Government at Ashland University.

In her desire to be more directly involved in state politics, she worked for the Ohio House of Representatives through the Legislative Service Commission (LSC) Fellowship Program, and was ultimately hired on as a legislative aide. Her time at the House gave her the opportunity to work for a variety of different state representatives handling their constituent cases and concerns, overseeing the drafting of legislation, and staffing standing committees.

In her free time, Nilani volunteers as a client consultant with the Pregnancy Decision Health Center (PDHC) to encourage women and families to choose life.
