ACTION ALERT: The Most Dangerous Bill in Ohio is Back
The Ohio (Un)Fairness Act Reintroduced at the Ohio Statehouse, Putting Women, Children, Businesses, and Ministries at Risk
COLUMBUS—Legislation threatening the privacy and safety of women and children has been reintroduced at the Ohio statehouse. Companion bills SB 119 and HB 208 were introduced in the Senate and House, and are sponsored by Senator Nikki Antonio (D-Cleveland), Senator Michael Rulli (R-Salem), Representative Brett Hillyer (R-Uhrichsville), and Representative Michael Skindell (D-Lakewood). The bills will add “Sexual Orientation” and “Gender Identity” to anti-discrimination laws.
Deceptively titled the “Ohio Fairness Act,” sponsors say this legislation is similar to the Equality Act in Washington, and has been introduced in Ohio for the last decade, but thanks to the work of pro-family lawmakers, CCV, and our supporters and allies across the state, it has not passed.
The following statement is from Center for Christian Virtue Director of Policy David Mahan:
“The Ohio 'Un'Fairness Act is based upon a fundamental lie that men can become women, or women can become men. The dangerous and scientifically-flawed ideology upholding this bill puts the privacy and safety of women and children at risk, and threatens every business owner and faith-based ministry with frivolous lawsuits.
“What’s more, the powerful corporate special interests pushing this legislation in Ohio only goes to prove that corporations and the business community are not discriminating… leading to the question, what’s the purpose of this bill?
“The reality is, Ohio is a diverse and welcoming state. This dangerous legislation would only serve to silence religious voices and force harmful gender ideology on children. Ohio lawmakers must strongly reject this bill.”
The most powerful and well-funded special interests in our state are pressuring lawmakers to pass the Ohio (Un)Fairness Act. They need to hear from you to stand strong!
