Statement on Governor Kasich’s Vague and Unnecessary Executive OrderCitizens for Community Values President Aaron Baer responds to Governor Kasich’s executive order on gender identity.

COLUMBUS – Earlier today, Governor John Kasich issued Executive Order 2018-12K which added “gender identity or expression” to Ohio’s nondiscrimination policies regarding public employees of the state of Ohio. The Executive Order can be read here. The following statement is from Citizens for Community Values President Aaron Baer on the Executive Order:“Governor John Kasich’s latest Executive Order is as vague as it is unnecessary. Unless his administration was rampantly firing individuals with gender dysphoria, the only purpose of his latest executive action is to score political points on the way out the door. There is no evidence that this kind of discrimination is happening in state government today.""John Kasich is our governor for less than two weeks. I think most Ohioans would prefer he keeps his priorities focused on what’s best for Ohio over the 12 days, instead of looking to endear himself to the coasts for his next political run."For questions, contact Citizens for Community Values, info@ccv.org, or 513.733.5775.

As Ohio’s Family Policy Council, Citizens for Community Values seeks the good of our neighbors throughout Ohio by advocating for public policy that reflects the truth of the Gospel. We endeavor to create an Ohio where God’s blessings of life, family, and religious freedom are treasured, respected, and protected.
