Press Conference: New School Choice Legislation Introduced in Ohio
Press Conference Announcing New Ohio Education Freedom Scholarship
Giving the freedom of school choice back to the most local level: the family
COLUMBUS – U.S. Department of Education Assistant Secretary Frank Brogan, Senator Matt Huffman, and Citizens for Community Values President Aaron Baer are hosting a press conference to announcing new legislation to empower parents to choose the education that best meets their needs.
SB 199 would allow Ohio to take advantage of the proposed Education Freedom Scholarship Program the U.S. Department of Education announced earlier this year.
The Education Freedom Scholarship program would provide $5 billion a year in federal tax credits to taxpayers who donate to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs). States would have the flexibility to define SGOs as they see fit, moving away from the current one-size-fits-all federal approach to education that is so detrimental to both students and teachers.
