Too far

Unbelievable. Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters is trying to remove a child from their parents because the parents don’t want to give the child puberty suppressing drugs. Few things surprise me any more in America. But this story in the Cincinnati Enquirer generally set me back.A 17-year-old minor wants to go to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to begin taking dangerous drugs to suppress their puberty in order to get a “sex-transition” surgery later. It’s worth noting that the drugs Cincinnati Children’s Hospital would give the child have not been approved for this use.Understandably the child’s parents do not want to give the child the drugs, however the grandparents do.This is where Joe Deters' Office is stepping in to remove the child from the parents’ custody and put the child with the grandparents. Media reports would lead us to believe it is solely because the parents do not consent to medically dubious hormone suppressing drugs. This is government run amok. As a parent, I cannot imagine a more horrendous abuse of power. Joe Deters must answer to the voters about why he is removing this child. Not only is this a brazen attack on parents everywhere, this is also dangerous for the child – “transitioning” is never a good option especially for minors. As Ryan T. Anderson of the Heritage Foundation wrote:Never mind that according to the best studies—the ones that even transgender activists themselves cite—80 to 95 percent of children with gender dysphoria will come to identify with and embrace their bodily sex.Never mind that 41 percent of people who identify as transgender will attempt suicide at some point in their lives, compared to 4.6 percent of the general population.Never mind that people who have had transition surgery are 19 times more likely than average to die by suicide.

The case is currently before Judge Sylvia Hendon. Pray she rules in favor of the parents, and contact Joe Deters' office and ask why he’s trying to take this child from their parents.
