Why you need to vote today

Christians have a unique position in America. Not only are we allowed to publicly practice our faith seven days a week, but we get to freely elect who leads our state and nation.

To understand why the Christian vote is critical to the future of our state and nation, consider the momentous passage of HB68–the SAFE Act and Save Women's Sports Act, which protects children from medical castration in the name of so-called gender affirmation and ensures girls aren't forced to compete against boys in sports.

The passage of HB68 was a demonstration of the impact Christians have when they make their voices heard.

HB68 became law in Ohio because:

  • Christians voted for candidates who had the will to pass legislation that goes against prevailing cultural narratives.

  • Christians elected officials who would courageously advocate for the law and Ohio children.

  • Christians voted for an Attorney General who fights for the rule of law.

Many of you in the CCV family–pastors, school administrators, medical professionals, business leaders, moms, dads, and grandparents–have shared your testimonies with us on the issues impacting your communities.

We know you care deeply:

  • Whether the SAFE Act and the Save Women's Sports Act can stay in effect

  • Whether Ohio’s school choice program will be eliminated

  • Whether businesses will be penalized for operating in line with their Christian faith

  • Whether women have the right to be informed about their options before an abortion and whether basic health and safety standards apply to abortion facilities

With hundreds of Ohio candidates on the ballot today, including our president, US congressmen, judges, senators, and representatives, as well as measures like Issue 1, the outcome of this election will determine the direction of our state for years to come, not limited to the issues listed above.

Because of our Christian identity, part of our earthly responsibility is to engage with God’s institution of government to incentivize good and diminish evil.

We must seek the welfare of the city where we have been sent into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare we will find our welfare (Jeremiah 29:7).

We know that Man’s manipulation of politics is exhausting and frustrating, but we cannot bury our stewardship responsibility in the ground in the face of evil. We don't have the luxury of simply awaiting the victorious return of the conquering King of Kings.

And so, we fight this spiritual battle with our weapons of prayer and our voice at the polls.

Don't stay silent today.
