Watch Now: First Hearing for House Bill 475 to Prohibit State Funding of Abortion

COLUMBUS—House Bill 475 (HB475), sponsored by Representative Josh Williams (R-Sylvania Twp.), is scheduled to receive its first hearing before the House Government Oversight Committee today–Tuesday, May 7–at 10:00 am.

HB475 would prohibit state funds from being given to any entity that supports, promotes, or provides abortions; require local governments to report abortion-related spending; and withhold government funds from any local government that spends state dollars on abortion, and reallocate that funding to pregnancy resource centers.

Please note that the Committee's agenda may include other bills for consideration, and HB475 may not be the first to be heard. Committee hearings at the Ohio Statehouse are open to the public.

Watch Rep. Williams give sponsor testimony for HB475.

If you're unable to watch the hearing live, you can watch the recording once it's posted.

To become law, a bill must go through both Chambers of the Ohio Statehouse to be sent to the governor for his approval. Read the bill and see its progress through the legislature here.
