TAKE ACTION: Toledo Plans to Use COVID Relief Dollars to Fund Out-of-State Travel for Abortions
TOLEDO—The Toledo City Council plans to consider a resolution that would co-opt COVID relief funds to transport women out of the state to have abortions. The resolution, sponsored by Councilmembers Nick Komives, Theresa Gadus, and Michele Grim, would appropriate $100,000 from the COVID relief money given to the city through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), taxpayer dollars meant to be used to address the public health and negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s hard to imagine a more gross abuse of taxpayer dollars,” said Aaron Baer, President of Center for Christian Virtue. “The federal government provided these funds to help cities recover from the devastation of COVID closures. With all the Toledo residents have dealt with over the last two years, it’s a new low for the Council to consider giving these funds to fuel liberal, pro-abortion advocacy organizations.”
The resolution is set to be voted on Tuesday, December 20. You can read the text of the resolution here.

Dear Toledo City Councilmembers,
As a taxpaying resident of the state of Ohio, I urge you to reject the resolution to misuse our money to send women out of state to have abortions. Our cities will never flourish if we prevent our future generations from accessing them.
