Ohio House Passes Constitution Protection Resolution

COLUMBUS—Earlier today, the Ohio House passed the Constitution Protection Resolution by a 62-37 vote. This CCV-backed resolution will allow Ohioans to vote on Tuesday, August 8, on whether to raise the approval threshold to amend the Ohio Constitution to 60 percent of the vote.

The following statement is from Center for Christian Virtue President Aaron Baer:

"For too long, Ohio's Constitution has been up for sale to the highest bidder. From casinos to the drug-legalization pushers to abortionists, special interests with deep pockets put a target on our Constitution because they only needed a simple majority to amend our state's founding document.

"It's now time for the voters of Ohio to stand up to support this ballot initiative and protect our Constitution for generations to come.

"Ohioans owe a debt of gratitude to Rep. Brian Stewart, Sen. Theresa Gavarone, and Sen. Rob McColley for sponsoring this resolution and standing strong against the intimidation tactics of the left. I'm also grateful for Senate President Matt Huffman, Rep. Derek Merrin, and Speaker Jason Stephens for their leadership."
