In Times Like These

My husband and I recently visited the majestic, awesome and wonderful Grand Canyon. Standing at the rim, we knew that we were beholding God and He was with us. What a peace, a comfort, a calm assurance to know that God Is.

Scripture declares in Psalm 22:3 that God inhabits (sits in) the praises of His people. That blesses me because I love to worship the Lord in song, especially the hymns. Something about those tried-and-true lyrics that take me to the inner courts or lifts me up out of despair, renews my strength and restores my joy. The song stirring in my heart lately is In Times Like These. There’s a line in the verse that exhorts, “be sure, be very sure your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock.” At this time in our nation, I am grateful that the Rock of Ages can withstand any season or transition.

The Electoral College, by State, ‘cast their lot’

The electoral college lots have been cast, the outcome seemingly determined, and Romans 13 yet says, “the authorities that exist have been established by God.” Let us remain steadfast, unmovable, and abounding in the work of the Lord, starting by praying:

Almighty God our Father, You are sovereign and sufficient, just and merciful. Your ways are far beyond our knowing. Please give Your Church wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counsel and might in this time to stand and be the salt and light in the earth that You have called us to be. Heavenly Father, we ask You to move on the hearts of our next president and vice president. Cause any unrighteous governance to be stopped in its tracks, confounded, confused and instead turn out for good. Help us by the aide of the Holy Spirit to not fall into the enemies traps, but to remain wise as serpents and gentle as dove. Thank You, Father.

You are invited to Ohio Pastors Prayer Movement

…on Thursday, December 17 at 6:00 pm for one of the most important prayer times that we will have in 2020. Here’s the Zoom link.

Pastors and leaders from around the state will be coming together via ZOOM in partnership with Love Akron for a night of Lament, Worship, and Prayer. Check out this promo video link to learn more about the flow and theme of the evening.

There is something very powerful when people from all around our state join together in repenting, lamenting, worship and intercession for Ohio. We hope that you will join us for this important time of prayer.

It is a joy to pray corporately with the Body of Christ as we seek His presence, His will, and His Kingdom together.

A ‘How-To’ to Help the Ecclesia Become Gospel-Centered Citizens

The Director of Church Relations for the Indiana Family Policy Council not only leads the Church Ambassador Network in his state, but he’s also a minister, and an attorney. Recently Josh Hershberger published a book, The Good Citizen: A Four-Step Guide to Gospel-Centered Citizenship. God knew that this day would come when His Church would need a clear road map for influencing the mountain of government.

I’ll have John join us early in 2021 for a First Friday 10:00 am call and conversation. Until then, here’s an excerpt from the book that’s worth the read:

“Like the Jews who helped Nehemiah build the wall around Jerusalem, we must learn to build with one hand (think building relationships with elected officials and serving our neighborhoods and cities) while remaining vigilant and ready to defend with the other (think elections, comments on public policy and religious liberty litigation)….This book is intended to be a practical, Tom Rainer or Dave Ramsey-style guide to addressing this thorny issue and to impacting your community, state and the nation.”
