Breaking News: Ohio Senate Passes Save Women's Sports Act, SAFE Act to Protect Kids From Trans Surgeries

COLUMBUS–The Ohio Senate just passed the CCV-backed Substitute House Bill 68 (HB68), which includes the Save Women's Sports Act, sponsored by Representative Jena Powell (R-Arcanum), and the SAFE (Saving Adolescents From Experimentation) Act, sponsored by Representative Gary Click (R-Vickery), both of which acknowledge the inherent differences between men and women.

If signed into law, HB68 would preserve the integrity of women’s sports by protecting female athletes from having to compete against biological males, and protect kids from dangerous puberty-blocking drugs, wrong-sex hormones, and transgender surgeries.

Because it was amended in the Senate, HB68 must receive a concurrence vote in the House before the 2:00 pm session ends, the last stop on the way to the Governor's desk to be passed into law this year.

Center for Christian Virtue thanks Senate President Matt Huffman (R-Lima), Sen. Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson)—Chair of the Senate Government Oversight Committee, Rep. Click, Rep. Powell, and all the other members who have worked to get this critical, common-sense bill to this point.

CCV urges the House of Representatives to act quickly to pass HB68 out of the General Assembly and onto the Governor's desk.

Please note that the House Session's agenda includes other points for consideration, and HB68 can be brought to the floor for a concurrence vote at any time.

To become law, a bill must go through both Chambers of the Ohio Statehouse to be sent to the governor for his approval. Read the bill and see its progress through the legislature here.
