DAYTON – Local lawmakers, judges, law enforcement, pastors and Citizens for Community Values are hosting a press conference on the harms of Issue 1 - a Constitutional amendment to decriminalize drug possession that Ohioans will be voting on this Tuesday, November 6.
The press conference will be held in front of a 45-foot bus, wrapped with “No on Issue 1” graphics.
As communities work to fight the opioid crisis, Issue 1 would devastate this effort, and tie the hands of law enforcement, the judiciary, and ministries to help people out of addiction and into treatment. Furthermore, by locking this bad policy into the state constitution, lawmakers would have virtually no ability to fix these problems.
The details of the press conference are as follows:
WHO: Sheriff Phil Plummer
Rep. Niraj Antani
Pastor Pat Murray
Pastor Johnathan Newman
Judge Erik Blaine
Dr. Kent Harshbarger, the Montgomery County Coroner
Aaron Baer, President of Citizens for Community Values
WHAT: Press conference on the Harms of Issue 1
WHERE: Living Word Church: 926 E National Rd, Vandalia, OH 45377
WHEN: Monday, November 5, 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
