CCV’s New Report on Abortion and the Church is Now Available

COLUMBUS—Center for Christian Virtue (CCV) today announced the publication of its report on the results of the November 7, 2023, election that saw Ohio voters enshrine abortion as a so-called right in the state constitution.

Vital Signs: How Ohio Passed One of the Most Extreme Abortion Laws, and Understanding the Path to Rebuilding a Culture of Life provides a sober-minded assessment of the election results, an exit poll that evaluated how voters perceived Issue 1, and the work ahead to restore and protect the dignity of all human life in Ohio.

In healthcare, vital signs are measured and interpreted to provide key indicators of the body’s overall wellbeing. CCV’s Vital Signs report applied the same principle to the attitudes of Ohio voters—particularly the Body of Christ, the Church—toward abortion. The results are devastating.

Two difficult truths revealed in the report are:

  • 30 percent of Ohioans who believe life begins at conception voted to pass the radical abortion amendment.

  • 1 in 3 self-identified weekly church-going Catholics and Evangelicals supported the law, which will rob an estimated 30,000 unborn children of their lives every year.

While Vital Signs provides an honest assessment of Ohio’s current culture, CCV also ends the report with Seven Ways to Protect and Restore the Sanctity of Life—a series of short- and long-term strategies that can be implemented immediately to not only protect life today but also position Ohio to one day repeal the deadly amendment.

Churches and ministries can order free copies of the report by emailing resources@ccv.org.

The report is available as a free digital download at CCV.org/VitalSigns
