Confronting the Silent Scourge of Chemical Abortion in Our Neighborhoods
Ending What Is Evil
A Monthly Publication of the Church Ambassador Network
As we navigate the post-Issue 1 landscape in Ohio, many in our pews believe the battle for life has shifted entirely to the courthouse or the ballot box. But a quieter, more dangerous evil has moved directly into our neighborhoods. It is an evil that bypasses medical oversight, ignores the dignity of the unborn, and leaves women to face physical and emotional trauma alone.
On March 2, the Ohio Department of Health’s annual abortion report confirmed a trend we have long feared: chemical abortions—induced by a two-drug regimen—now account for nearly 60 percent of all abortions in the Buckeye State. This exposes a strategic effort by the abortion industry to make the ending of a life as invisible and "convenient" as ordering a package online. Just this week, major providers announced the expansion of telehealth for medication abortions, effectively turning a mailbox into an abortion clinic.
As pastors, we must confront this reality. The "abortion clinic" is no longer just a building downtown; it is being marketed as a "self-care" service that can be delivered to a dorm room.
The Deception of "Self-Care"
The world markets the abortion pill as "healthcare" and "empowerment." But as shepherds of souls, we know that anything predicated on the destruction of an image-bearer is a lie. This method isolates women in their moment of greatest need, turning a bathroom into a surgical suite and a mother into her own provider of death.
As CCV presented in the Vital Signs Report:
"The abortion industry has moved from the clinic to the cloud... We are witnessing the 'DIY-ing' of death, and the Church must be the first to offer a better way."
This is a violation of the "Architecture of Life" that God has designed. When we remove the human element of care and the moral weight of the act, we aren't "liberating" women; we are abandoning them.
The Mandate to Rescue
Scripture is not silent on our duty to intervene when life is at stake. Proverbs 24:11-12 commands us:
"Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, 'Behold, we did not know this,' does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?"
In Ohio, we are fighting back through Senate Bill 309, the Abortion Pill Provider Liability Education (APPLE) Act. This legislation, which received committee testimony in February 2026, seeks to ensure women receive truthful information and hold providers accountable for the severe complications often hidden from the public.
But legal restrictions are only one side of the coin. The Church must lead the way in offering the "Abortion Pill Reversal" (APR) protocol—a life-saving intervention that uses progesterone to counteract the first pill. As Dr. George Delgado, a pioneer of APR, recently noted:
"Abortion pill reversal is safe and effective... women given a second chance at choice are very grateful." (George Delgado, MD, Abortion Pill Reversal: A Second Chance at Choice, 2026).
As evidence of this, watch Sierra's story to see how an Ohio pregnancy center saved the life of her unborn daughter, Sawyer, through APR.
The Church as a Hub of Hope
Ending the evil of chemical abortion requires a "Whole-of-Church" response. We must be more than "pro-life" in theory; we must be a "Sanctuary of Life" in practice.
Equip Your People with Truth: Use the Vital Signs Report to educate your congregation on the reality of chemical abortion.
Support Local Pregnancy Centers: These are the "First Responders" on the ground. Partner with your local center to ensure they are equipped to offer Abortion Pill Reversal information.
Promote the "Success Sequence": As we discuss in the Hope and a Future report, stable families are the greatest deterrent to abortion. When we build strong marriages, we remove the "panic" that often leads to the mailbox.
The era of the "invisible abortion" is here, but the Light of the World still shines. Let us lead our congregations with the courage to call evil what it is and the compassion to offer a hand to those who are stumbling.
"It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want." (Mother Teresa, Address to the National Prayer Breakfast, Washington D.C., Feb. 3, 1994).
Next Steps for Your Church
Register for the Ohio March for Life: Join thousands of believers in Columbus this October to stand for the unborn.
Audit Your "Safety Net": Many women choose the "mailbox clinic" out of a perceived lack of support. Conduct a "Sanctuary Audit" of your church: Do your single mothers have childcare? Do your struggling families have a clear path to material aid? By partnering with the Ohio Coalition of Pregnancy Centers, your church can become a verified "referral hub" that provides the tangible support that makes chemical abortion unnecessary.
Request a speaker from CCV to present an "Order of Life" Seminar: Use the data from the 2025 Hope and a Future Report to host a seminar for your church. Educate them on the "Success Sequence" and the biological realities of life before they are confronted with the "telehealth" lies of the abortion industry. Prevention is the first step of restoration.
